Here are some recent pictures taken for an article that wasn’t written after one of my (Mike Doughty inspired) Question Jar shows.
There is a magazine floating around CT boasts about being really into the local music scene. However, I have never seen a local musician/artist/comedian/painted/philosopher or otherwise on the cover. At this shoot I (half) joked about putting one of these pictures on the cover of the October issue. One of the magazines employees told me that the cover was sold many months in advance to bigger national touring acts. Don’t get me wrong, I can care less if it’s me on the cover, but I would love to see someone local on a “local” magazine rather than Aaron Lewis, Slash, Broken Social Scene or someone else who could care less about whats going on locally.
Support local artists because they turn into nationally touring artists. Why make your magazine look like every other one in its genre? Don’t jump on a bandwagon…start one.
